Our location: The Arndt small animal center is located in the oldest district of Karlsruhe, namely Durlach - Karlsruhe Durlach.

Karlsruhe Durlach is the largest district of Karlsruhe. In 1715, the new residential city of Karlsruhe was founded from here. The eastern Karlsruhe district of Durlach is older than Karlsruhe itself. Medieval flair characterizes the Durlach old town with its picturesque market square, the city wall, the castle square and the narrow streets and walls. With almost 30,000 inhabitants, Durlach is the largest district of Karlsruhe and is often referred to as the “mother” of Karlsruhe. Durlach was the residence of the Margraves of Baden-Durlach. In 1715, Karl Wilhelm moved his court to Karlsruhe. Durlach remained an independent town. It was not incorporated until 1938.

Our veterinary practice is located on the so-called Geigersberg in Karlsruhe Durlach (our location). The Geigersberg is a residential area in Durlach . It is part of the Hanggebiet district and also includes the so-called “Rosengärtle”. The border to other residential areas is Badener Straße (B3) in the west and Rittnertstraße (K 9654) in the northeast. There are no immediate settlements in the south. The Geigersberg marks the northern beginning of the Black Forest , while the neighboring Turmberg the southern foothills of the Kraichgau ( © Wikipedia ).

The local mountain is the Turmberg, on the summit of which are the remains of a castle complex, to which the Turmbergbahn leads. The Turmberg lies in the border area of the Kraichgau and the Black Forest and is classified as part of the Kraichgau in the natural structure. Opposite it, separated by Rittnertstrasse, is the Geigersberg, where the Black Forest begins. This is followed by the Guggelensberg and Lerchenberg elevations. All of these hills still belong to Durlach and are a popular celebrity and villa district of Karlsruhe due to the view they offer over the Rhine plain. In the middle of this residential area of Karlsruhe you will find the new Arndt small animal center.

Bergwaldstrasse 30 on Geigerberg is well connected to the public transport network. The tram lines S1 and S11 connect Durlach directly with Karlsruhe city center, making it easy to get to the city center quickly and in an environmentally friendly manner. There are also various bus routes available, which offer excellent connections to the surrounding districts.

The area surrounding the Geigerberg

Surrounded by dense forests and green hills, the Geigerberg is a true paradise for hikers, joggers and cyclists. The numerous hiking trails, such as the Durlacher Weinweg or the Albtalblick, offer breathtaking panoramas and the opportunity to fully enjoy the beauty of nature. At the same time, there are numerous sights in the immediate vicinity of the Geigerberg, such as the Turmbergbahn, Karlsruhe Zoo or Karlsruhe Castle, which attract both locals and tourists.
