With the merging of various settlement areas of the Weststadt and Mühlburg, the Nordweststadt was formed in the seventies. Most of the housing estates were built after the Second World War and the district still has neither a prominent location nor a historical core. It is easy to live in the Nordweststadt. Schools and kindergartens are numerous and with the Karlsruhe tram the destination is quickly reached. Less satisfactory, however, is the shopping situation, which is improved by two larger grocery stores. On Neureuter Straße, away from the residential areas, you can see the commercial areas. A little more to the northern part of Hart is the area of the "old airfield", which is under nature protection (Flora-Fauna-Habitat).
