On August 15, 1110, Rintheim was first mentioned as "Rintdam." In 1275, the village was owned and administered by the Gottesaue Monastery. After 1451, the administrative claim passed to Durlach. A town hall and a school were established in 1749 and 1770, respectively. After a year of construction, the Protestant church was opened in November 1871. The village was incorporated into Karlsruhe in January 1907. Thanks to connections to the A5 federal highway and the Karlsruhe city rail network, Rintheim is easily accessible and located in a quiet area.
Rintheim is home to a primary school, a secondary school, and a school for the visually impaired on Weinweg. Rintheim is home to the Karlsruhe Technology Park, the XXXL Mann Mobilia (XXXL Lutz), and a center for internet and high-tech companies. The Rintheimer Feld has been a "Social City" program area since 2010. The quality of life and housing will be improved by 2017 through federal and state funding.
