On August 15, 1110, Rintheim was first mentioned as "Rintdam". In 1275 the place was owned by the Gottesaue monastery. After 1451, the administrative claim passed to Durlach. In 1749 and 1770 a town hall and a school were set up. After a year of construction, the Protestant church was opened in November 1871. The town was incorporated into Karlsruhe in January 1907. Thanks to connections to the Federal Motorway Five and the Karlsruhe light rail network, Rintheim is easy to reach and is located in a quiet area.

Within Rintheim there is a primary, secondary and secondary school and a school for the visually impaired on Weinweg. Rintheim includes, among other things, the Karlsruhe Technology Park, the XXXL Mann Mobilia (XXXL Lutz), as well as a center for Internet and high-tech companies. Rintheimer Feld has been a “Soziale Stadt” program area since 2010. The quality of life and housing will be improved by 2017 through funding from the federal and state governments.
