How long does inpatient treatment last at the Arndt Small Animal Center?

The duration of inpatient treatment depends on your loved one’s health. We will communicate with you daily and, for longer stays, we will be happy to arrange visiting times with you.

If an animal is seriously ill and is being treated by a veterinarian, hospitalization/inpatient treatment may be necessary in certain cases.

This is particularly true after surgical procedures, when intensive observation and, if necessary, further care or special examinations of the animal are necessary.

Continuous drip infusion and intravenous injection therapy is often carried out as part of inpatient treatment.

Of course, we want to make your animal's inpatient stay as short and pleasant as possible. The length of your stay at our ward in Karlsuhe-Durlach depends on the type and course of the treatment. Your treating veterinarian will provide you with comprehensive information.

Visits will take place several times a day during your pet's inpatient stay with us. The patients are examined and given medication.

If necessary, blood, x-ray and ultrasound examinations will also be carried out.

The animals should feel as comfortable as possible at the station. Therefore, they are housed in boxes appropriate to their size, of course dogs and cats/small animals separately from each other. The models for cats and small dogs are made from a special plastic that ensures a pleasant climate and is also easy to clean. Furthermore, these boxes can be heated individually.
