To the left and right of the Alb, Weiherfeld-Dammerstock extends south of Karlsruhe. Weiherfeld and Dammerstock were built in the 1920s on the area characterized by meadows and fields directly behind the new main train station. The settlements are separated by the Alb and connected to each other via three bridges. In 1960 the EEC high-rise and a residential residence for older citizens were built. The adjacent area up to the Oberwald is reserved for various sports clubs and allotment gardens. Weiherfeld-Dammerstock has 6,000 inhabitants and is one of the small districts with a high quality of living in the countryside and a direct connection to the big city, including the almost village feel of the district.
