CBD oil for dogs

Having a sick pet at home can be stressful for its owners as a lot of time is spent searching for medications and treatments. There are various treatments and medications available, but they do not always work the same way for all types of dogs. In addition, medications can usually have side effects that can lead to the dog's limited functionality.

CBD oil

But lately there's a remedy that's been making the rounds in the world of pet ownership. It is CBD for dogs. CBD helps with homeostasis, which regulates internal balance.

What is CBD?

Before we understand all the benefits of CBD products for dogs, we should know what CBD is.

  • CBD is cannabidiol and is extracted from the cannabis plant.
  • The type of cannabis plant from which CBD is derived is hemp.
  • There are several cannabinoids that can be extracted from the cannabis plant and this is one of them.
  • Cannabidiol does not make pets “high.”
  • Lower THC content.
  • It is naturally non-psychoactive.
  • It has no known level of toxicity, meaning it will not be overdosed.

Why CBD oil for dogs?

Unnamed

CBD is often cited as a useful therapy for a variety of conditions, including pain management, arthritis, anxiety , seizures , and even cancer. Although the use of CBD in treating each of these conditions is not yet well-researched, there is varying amounts of scientific evidence for each scenario.

  • arthritis

Since CBD shares metabolic pathways with anti-inflammatory drugs, it makes sense that it could help with certain inflammatory conditions

Osteoarthritis , often abbreviated to arthritis, is one of the most common inflammatory diseases in dogs.

One in four dogs will be diagnosed with arthritis during their lifetime, and it is estimated that up to 60% of dogs suffer from some form of the disease .

Research has shown that CBD can provide significant pain relief in dogs with arthritis when administered at appropriate dosages three times daily. A 20 kg dog can receive 3-5 drops morning, afternoon and evening. The drops are best placed between the teeth and lips.

  • pain

Theoretically, the anti-inflammatory effect seen in arthritic dogs could also be present in dogs with other types of inflammatory pain, particularly back pain due to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

Preliminary human studies have shown that combination products containing both CBD and THC provide better pain relief than administering either drug alone. However, no such studies have been conducted on dogs, so THC should not be administered to them.

  • Seizures

Seizures are probably the most studied use of CBD in humans, but there is little research for pets. In dogs, seizures can be caused by a variety of underlying medical conditions.

When it comes to idiopathic epilepsy specifically, there is some research that suggests CBD may reduce seizure frequency in these dogs.

  • Cancer

As with seizures, the term "cancer" is an umbrella term that refers to a variety of specific diseases, each with its own set of useful treatments.

In humans, the possible use of CBD in cancer patients has been studied, both for the direct treatment of the tumor(s) and for the treatment of the secondary symptoms of cancer and chemotherapy. There is very little research on the use of CBD in dogs with cancer.

However, CBD's anti-nausea effects in humans undergoing chemotherapy have also been demonstrated in rats and ferrets, suggesting that dogs receiving chemotherapy may benefit from CBD treatment.

  • Anti-anxiety medication

CBD has an anti-anxiety effect and reduces stress and various phobias. CBD targets the serotonin receptors which helps in increasing the levels of serotonin which curbs any kind of fear and anxiety in all types of organisms and in this case dogs.

  • Antiemetic

CBD oil is helpful in controlling vomiting and nausea in dogs. Since nausea is very common with certain treatments such as chemotherapy, CBD can help in this situation and also curb loss of appetite.

CBD oil for dogs shows exemplary effectiveness in dogs in treating their problems that would otherwise take a lot of medication and hours with a veterinarian.

Dogs are gentle creatures that need care and love, and the worst thing is that they can't tell you if they have any problem. So if you can find a drug that can treat multiple problems and doesn't have any bad side effects, then you can say that it is a miracle for dog owners.

IMPORTANT!

This CBD oil for dogs contains terpenes and should not be used for cats!
