In the last few weeks, we've had two cases in quick succession, one where a cat and the other where a dog swallowed a needle and thread. How can anyone think of eating a sewing needle? Unfortunately, the owner couldn't prevent the accident, but she was with us very quickly. We were able to save both of them through stomach surgery (unfortunately, nothing could be done endoscopically), and they were able to return home after three days. So please be careful—especially with young animals—don't leave anything lying around alone or lose sight of it. And if in doubt, if you don't know where something has gone, take it to the vet immediately. Because if the surgery hadn't been performed in time, both animals would have died.
